City of Winter Garden’s DIAPER DRIVE in SeptemberOne out of three families struggle to provide diapers for their children. Many parents face the fact that they might not be able to buy diapers for their children. Babies without clean diapers are exposed to more potential health risks and less likely accepted to daycares, leaving parents unable to attend work.
The City of Winter Garden, in conjunction with the Central Florida Diaper Bank, is sponsoring its seventh annual September Diaper Drive in hopes of raising awareness to this essential community need.
We are accepting donations for diaper sizes Newborn, 4, 5 , 6 and diaper wipes. Donations can be dropped off at Winter Garden City Hall, 300 W. Plant Street, weekdays 7:30 am – 5:30 pm through September 30.
Central Florida Diaper Bank, located at 1041 Crown Park Circle in Winter Garden, is an affiliate of the National Diaper Bank Network.

Don’t Bag RecyclablesIf you put recycling material in a plastic bag before placing it in your recycling cart, all that time spent emptying and rinsing your recyclables is wasted. When that bag gets to the sorting facility, it will be pulled out of the pile and thrown in the trash.
The sorting facility, also called a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), does not have time to open all the plastic bags. Since the MRF does not know what is inside the bag, it will throw all bagged materials in the trash, causing all those recyclables to go to the landfill.
It is fine to collect your recyclables in a plastic bag in your home, but on recycling day, empty the bag into the cart. This will make your recycling efforts worthwhile and you can reuse the bag for trash or next week’s recyclables. Remember, it does not matter if the bags are clear, black, white or purple; plastic bags are not allowed in your recycling cart.
Keep it Loose, Don’t Bag Recyclables!

Schedule Irrigation System for EfficiencyThe St. Johns River Water Management District recommends applying moderate amounts of water to create a healthy, drought and stress-tolerant lawn. For most Florida soils, applying no more than three-quarters of an inch of water per application is enough to revitalize the grass. Saturate the root zone and then let soil dry to encourage healthy, deep root growth. Overwatering promotes weed growth, disease and fungus.

LIVE THEATRE
Man of La ManchaWritten by Dale Wasserman | Music by Mitch Leigh Lyrics by Joe Darion | Directed by Joseph C. WalshLike beauty my friend, ‘tis all in the eyes of the beholder. A story of imagination, adventure, and chivalry rises from the darkness and despair of a prison cell, carried aloft by some of the American Theatre’s most familiar and beloved songs. The walls fall away as Miguel de Cervantes transforms into his legendary hero Don Quixote and humanizes his fellow inmates through his musical misadventures. This bold reimagining of Don Quixote’s quest — a glorious affirmation of the resilience of the human spirit — dares everyone to dream “The Impossible Dream” and search for the good in each one of us.August 27 – September 19 | Matinee and evening performances Tickets start at $35Discounts available for youth, seniors, groups, and military membersgardentheatre.org/plays MOVIES
