SR 429 Construction Commences in Winter Garden
The Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) began construction activities in May 2022 on SR 429 FROM TILDEN ROAD TO SR 414 to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.
During construction, temporary lane and ramp closures will be necessary to accommodate work. Daytime operations, including pile driving, are scheduled 7 am-5 pm, while night work is scheduled 8:30 pm-6:00 am. For a list of Expressway Project Alerts, click here.
The SR 429 Corridor Capacity Improvements Project is anticipated to be complete by late 2024. The project is broken into three segments to minimize impact to motorists. The project will add a travel lane in each direction, expanding the expressway from four to six lanes (three travel lanes in each direction). In addition, wider median shoulders to temporarily accommodate traffic during emergency response events are also being added. The project also includes adding 18 sound walls.
Due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances, work could be delayed. Motorists are urged to use caution in the construction area for their safety and that of the work crews.
The road closures are declared by the Central Florida Expressway Authority for the SR 429 Capacity Improvements from Tilden Road to SR 414 Project.
